Warehouse 508 is pleased to offer financial assistance to students who qualify! We want to make sure that money is not a barrier to participating in our awesome programs.

If you would like to be considered for a scholarship, please register for the class you are interested in and complete the following requirements:

  • attend at least one Youth Creative Crew meeting before February 11th. (The YCC meets every Wednesday at 6pm in the Macshack.)
  • do some volunteer work
  • submit a written request for assistance…follow these instructions…
  • Send an email to info@warehouse508.org with the following information:
  • Introduce yourself and type approximately 200 words about why you want to participate in this particular program and how it will benefit you. Why should you be considered for a scholarship?
  • Include name, age, contact info and parent or guardian name and contact info.
  • Tell us what class(es) you are registered for
  • Indicate whether you will need a partial or full scholarship or how much you are able to contribute towards your tuition.
  • Make sure you put “Spring Scholarship” in the subject line of your email
  • Each applicant may only receive a scholarship for one class per semester

Hacker High School

Hacking is a method of problem solving that combines resourcefulness, logic, creativity and study. In Hacker Highschool, teens learn formal methods to figure out how things work and how to keep learning. Hacking is usefully applied in nearly all fields as it builds upon what is known to create new things, foods, designs, etc. When applied to computers and networks, it also teaches safety and security in a world quickly drowning in information. To be safer, teens today need to know the facts from the fraud, the real from the fake, and the bad from the good.

Slam Poetics

Calling all creative writers looking to enhance skills on the stage and on the page! This class will focus on essentials used to give great performances as well as powerful dynamics in writing to deliver a message. Various styles of expressive writing including: formal poetry, slam poetry, short story writing, screenplay writing, and hip hop. Group work is encouraged.

Action Sports Photography: Photography in Motion

Purpose:  This class will look at two major parts of action photography: capturing action shots and editing. 
 
Learn camera settings, lighting, and other techniques in order to capture beautiful still shots of subjects in motion.  Learn basic photo editing skills and techniques to further enhance images.  Focus on ‘storytelling’ through images.
 
Topics covered:  Freezing action, purposeful blurs, panning, lighting subjects, natural light, environmental/lifestyle portraits, composition, natural light, photo editing and manipulations. How different camera settings and lenses/focal lengths affect the shot.

DJ 101

Local DJ extraordinaire will take students on a musical journey through the history and art of DJing. Students will learn crucial lessons on how to hook up and operate basic DJ equipment from past and present. Learn and perform turntable maneuvers, DJ routines, important crowd response techniques, and preparation for club gigs.

Fashion 508: Beginner and Advanced Classes

Come be a part of Warehouse 508s growing group of fashion designers and learn the basics of fashion design from Teresa Romero of Designer’s Lounge. This class will focus primarily on design and creation of clothing in our Fashion 508 department.

Breakdancing

Learn the basics of breakdancing through an interactive, high energy dance class. Bgirl manda will teach the foundations, history, and culture of breakdancing with a heavy emphasis on fitness. During the semester other dance styles and techniques will be incorporated.

Rockstar

Are you ready to get a chance to get your band or music project to the next level! Rockstar helps students develop their songwriting skills, recording performances, and stage performances. Students will be ready for any gig thrown at them! Open to all genres and music styles.

508 Records

Are you a performing songwriter? Are you serious about wanting to make an album, set up your marketing strategy, and launch your career out into the world? If so, this is the class for you! Using our 508 studio, you can learn to record your original songs to make an EP or album, market your act, and set up for a professional music career. This class for teens is for any genre. Participants in 508 records will also have the opportunity to collaborate with the Music Video class to make a video as well.

**All applicants to 508 Records need to audition their original music, live or recorded, to get in. Limit 5 students per class.

Sound School

Ever wonder what it takes to be the person who makes your favorite band or artist sound good? Sound School focuses primarily on basic live sound reinforcement. Students will learn how to hook-up and tear down a club size P.A., set-up microphones, run mixer, basic mixing skills, and stage management.

Mural Art Program

Headed up by renowned local aerosol artists Roberto Reyes & Faustino Villa, the Mural Art Program will introduce you to new styles of urban art and aerosol art. From stencils to hand-styles, you can practice every Saturday on our mural wall and help create the next new mural at 508. Advanced muralists will move on to participate in community projects.

Digital Arts

Learn for the first time or expand your knowledge on the tools within Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to create digital and print ready designs. This class will  teach conception, media ethics, creative thinking, critical thinking and insight on how to make a living as a creative.

**This class is required as a prerequisite for Screen Printing

Screenprinting

Learn how to screen print! This class covers the fundamentals of silkscreen from screen prep to final print, how to properly use screen printing equipment and tools, and basic tips and tricks to print whatever your heart desires.

Class begins with a hands-on screen printing process demonstration. Part of the way through class participants will create their own original stencils, then film positives. Students learn how to expose screens and practice pulling a few prints with the instructor’s guidance. One tee shirt included in the class, BYO or order more from the lab to print as many as class time allows.

Xpression Sessionz

A series of open studio labs and featured artist workshops empowering youth to create, learn and express themselves through art in a safe, inspiring, and educational environment. Featured artists will act as mentors by sharing a variety of styles, techniques, experiences and mediums. Through this process participants will find and develop their own styles and techniques.
